Reconnecting the Underground to Urban Life
Located beneath a major intersection in Yeouido, the project reconnects an invisible urban void to the life of the city. What was once an inaccessible and neglected space is now reimagined as a community connector, linked to residential areas, public transportation, and parks. Through this project, the space evolves from a forgotten void into a welcoming place for daily life.
Environment Atmosphere through Material Intention
The overall atmosphere is understated, warm and welcoming. The use of materials such as wood, brick and matte finishes helps create a sense of comfort and security. Each space benefits from lighting. Technical elements are discreetly integrated to preserve spatial clarity and quality. Every detail, from textures to color tones is designed to reduce visual stress and support user appropriation.
Inclusive Design for Everyday & Everyone
This project is designed as a civic infrastructure that is accessible for young people and encourages collective engagement. The youth café was designed to support both quiet moments and social interaction. It is more than a café. It is a space where inclusion is not an idea but a lived experience.
Making the Invisible Legible
Archi-therapy is not just a reference but a guiding principle. The design favors balance over statement, with careful attention to circulation, scale, and sensory cues. It guides without imposing. Archi-therapy guides the project as a design principle, providing subtle support through spatial flow, balanced proportions, and sensory awareness.
